Region I Men’s and Women’s U23 Cup took place on the weekend of July 12-13 at the Ukrainian American Sports Center (Horsham, PA) and the United German Hungarian Club (Oakford, PA).  The championship awarded regional entries to the USASA National Finals being held on August 7-10 in Seattle, Washington.

Junior Lone Star of Eastern Pennsylvania was crowned Men’s U23 Region I Champions 2008. The squad blanked West Chester United (MSSL) 2-0 in semifinals, and defeated FC Delco (E-PA) 5-3 (PK) in the final.

In the Women’s U23, Bethesda SC of Maryland claimed the title after sweeping Delaware U23 of Delaware 2-0. Bethesda defeated the Middlepath Jaguars (MSSL) 1-0 on an early-morning Sunday semifinal match allowing them to qualify for the final.

Tournament was played with group matches on Saturday, July 12. The semifinals and finals were held on Sunday, July 13. The teams were placed in groups of 3 (Women) and 4 (Men). The group winners advanced to the semifinals on finals Sunday.

The Region I U23 Cup seals off the 2008 regional qualifying of all USASA Regions.
