Region III Under 23 Cup was held at Georgia Soccer Park, GA, on June 20-22. With the completion of this division, the region has officially concluded its Men’s and Women’s rounds of qualification for the year of 2008.

Brandon Flames of Florida were crowned Under 23 Cup Champions on Sunday, June 22 after crushing the Sole Roll SC of Texas 1-0. The Flames will represent Region III in the USASA National Cups Finals to be celebrated in Seattle, WA, on August 7-10, 2008.

Eight teams, divided into two groups of four, Flight A and B, played round robin format on Friday and Saturday. Brandon Flames (Flight A) came out undefeated after smashing Azzurri (TX) 5-1 on Friday, following with two wins over Texas Cyclones (TX) 5-0 and Atlanta FC (GA) 2-0 on Saturday. The Flames encountered Sole Roll SC (TX) of Flight B to determine the winner.

While a rough start didn’t stop the Sole Roll from advancing to the next round, as the team met the Saturn FC (GA) with an overcome of a 2-2 draw on Friday, the Texas squad blanked the Jax Jaguars (FL) 4-0, and defeated SC United (SC) 2-1 on Saturday. Unfortunately, Sole Roll was shut down by the Brandon Flames on Sunday’s final with a 1-0 win.

Flight A teams included Atlanta FC (GA), Azzurri (TX), Brandon Flames (FL), and Texas Cyclones. Flight B teams were Jax Jaguars (FL), Saturn FC (GA), SC United (SC), and Sole Roll SC (TX). 

On Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26), Region III celebrated the Men’s and Women’s Amateur, Open and Over 30 Cups in Orange Park, Fla. Region III Champions to attend the National Cups Finals in August are as follow;

Men’s Amateur: Kickers (Florida); Women’s Amateur: Turbo D’feeters (Texas).
Men’s Open: Galactics (Florida); Women’s Open: Dallas Sting (Texas).
Men’s Over 30: Kickers (Florida); Women’s Over 30: Houston Challengers (Texas).
