RWB Adria Shocks AAC Eagles 6-2
Region II crowns Open Cup Champions

It was a shocking win for RWB Adria after claiming the title over AAC Eagles with a 6-2 win (OT) on Saturday, June 14. The two Illinois teams met up at Chicago Academy Field to fight for the Region II Open Cup. RWB Adria advances to the USASA National Cups Finals being held in August, representing Region II.

With less than one minute and thirty-seconds left into the game, RWB Adria scored to tie the match 2-2. Within five minutes of the first overtime period, Adria struck three more goals for a total of a 6-2 mark, leaving the Eagles short. 

RWB Adria qualified for the 2008 regional finals after facing the Madison Princeton-56ers (WI) on May 17. The Illinois team came out victorious with a 2-0 win over the Princeton-56ers at Lake Forest College, IL. Founded in 1959, the RWB Adria is also a 2007 USASA National Cups participant. They lost to Azurri (TX) 4-3 in penalty kicks in the Men’s Open Cup semifinals.

The Region II Cups in the Under 23, Amateur and Over 30 divisions will be held on June 27-29 at Lovers Lane Park, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
