After the results of the Men’s Over 30 semifinals held on Sunday, June 8, two teams have officially advanced to the Region I finals to be played on June 22 at the United German Hungarian Club. Champions will represent Region I at the National Cups Finals in Seattle.
Danbury United Over 30 (CT) is expected to meet Christos/Colts (MD) to fight for a berth in the finals to take place in August. Danbury qualified after sweeping Wallace FC (DE) 2-0, while the Colts blanked PA Rush (Eastern PA) 3-0. Both games were played on Sunday, June 8.
Region IV has completed its National Cups qualifying as the Under 23 Cup came to a close on Sunday, June 8. The tournament was played at Scottsdale Sports Complex, Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Arizona Sahuaros (NPSL), besides representing the region in the Open competition, they are also the Under 23 Men’s champions. The team came undefeated with a three-game series played throughout the weekend, claiming the victory over Rio Vista Phoenix (NM), defeating SD United (CA) 2-1, and lastly, winning against ICSL Stars (CA) with a 2-1 tally mark.
In the women’s competition, Real Colorado (CO) was crowned the Under 23 Champions after its encounters against Arizona E.T.S. (AZ) and ICSL Stars (CA) during the course of the weekend. The ICSL Stars participated in last year’s USASA National Cups Finals, though the team only made it to the semifinals after losing to Soccer Plus (CT).
