Region I
Open Division Semifinals are lined up for Sunday May 18th. Aegean Hawks (DC/VA) will encounter Pancyprian Freedoms (Eastern NY) at Maryland Soccerplex, Boyds, MD.
The Hawks participated in last year’s USASA National Cups, where they lost 3:1 to Open Cup Champions - El Paso Indios USA (NPSL) in the championship semifinals.
Danbury United (CT) and Boston Olympiakos (MA) are also schedule to play Sunday, May 18th at Portuguese Cultural Center Soccer Field, Danbury, Connecticut. Olympiakos were crowned Amateur Cup champions at USASA National Cups Finals 2007.
The winners will advance to Region I’s Open Final to be held on June 22nd and the opportunity to represent Region I in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Men’s Over 30 quarterfinals are slated for Sunday, May 18th as well. Kappa Real Wyckoff of New Jersey is meeting Christos/Colts FC (Maryland) at Montclair State University Soccer Field, NJ.
Wallace FC (DE) will host the NYAC (Eastern NY) at Hockessin Soccer Club Turf Field at 2:00 P.M. The Portuguese Cultural Center Soccer Field in Danbury, CT will witness the match between Danbury United O30 and Garfield Vistula (CL) of New Jersey. Lastly, the Bier FC (DC/VA) and PA Rush (Eastern PA) will encounter at Sewer Authority Field in Doylestown, PA. Bier FC made it to the last year’s National Cups held in Seattle; they were defeated by Big Ballers of Arizona 5:3 in the semifinals.
Region I Over 30 Semifinals will be played on June 8, 2008.
Region II
Four teams left in Open Draw
After a 3:2 win over Bavarian SC (WI) in quarterfinals; the AAC Eagles from Illinois are ready to take the Des Moines Menace of Iowa in the Regional Semifinal to be held at Chicago Academy Field on May 17th. Meanwhile, the RWB Adria of Illinois also, is hosting the Madison Princenton-56ers (WI) the same day as the Eagles at Lake Forest College - Farwell Field. RWB Adria is a USASA National Cups semifinalist, as the team played in last year’s championship losing to Azurri (North TX) 3:4. The Eagles are runners-up of National Cups Finals 2007, as the Boston Olympiakos blanked them 2:0 in the Amateur draw.
Two of these four teams will play each other to determine Region II Open Champion and the chance to qualify themselves to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Region III
The Region III Cups, [all rounds of qualification], will be played on May 23rd at Eagle Harbor Soccer Complex, Orange Park, Florida.
Region IV
Regional Cups kick off May 16th at Scottsdale Sports Complex, Scottsdale, Arizona.
Open Division semifinals will be played by eight teams which are split into two groups: A and B. The teams are scheduled to play one game on Friday, May 16th, and two games on Saturday, May 17th. The winner of each group will battle for the Region IV Open Title in the Final on Sunday, May 18th, and will advance to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Group A includes Arizona Sahuaros; Salinas Valley Samba; Rockstar United; and Sonoma County Sol. Group B is formed by SD United; Banat Arsenal; Hollywood United; and Santa Cruz County Breakers.
Of the eight entrants, five play in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL): Salinas County, Sonoma County and Santa Cruz are members of the Northwest Conference, with San Diego United and the Arizona Sahuaros in the Southwest Conference.
Men’s Amateur semifinals are slated for Friday, May 16th also. Play format will be the same as Open Division’s. Two groups, A and B, have been settled and are as follow:
Group A: Flickas FC, Lazio, Seattle Wolves FC and Diamonds FC. Group B: Hot Spurs, Tyneside United SC, Santa Clara Sporting, and Inferno. The Hot Spurs of California-South participated in last year’s USASA National Cups, where they lost to Boston Olympiakos 5:1 in the Amateur semifinals.
The Amateur final will be played on Sunday, May 18th and the winner will represent Region IV in the USASA National Cups Finals 2008.
Men’s and Women’s Over 30 Championship will also take place this weekend. Men’s teams include JH Kelly United; Big Ballers; and Red Bull. Arizona’s Big Ballers are last year’s National Cups runner-up, as they were defeated by Scott Gallagher (MO) 1:0.
