May 2, 2008
Eight teams from USASA’s Region II are scheduled to begin the first round of qualifications in the Open Division on May 3, 2008.
Illinois’ RWB Adria will take on the Carpathia Kickers (Michigan) at Carpathia Club. Kickers are the 2007 fall champions of the Michigan Premier League and the MPL League Cup winners. Adria is a 2007 US Open Cup qualifier as well as the 2007 champions of Chicago’s National Soccer League after defeating AAC Eagles 4-1 in the final game.
AAC Eagles heads to Milwaukee as they are scheduled to fight the Bavarian SC for a spot in the Open Cup. The Eagles were the runners-up in the USASA National Cups Finals Amateur Competition in 2007 and currently hold the first place in Chicago’s Metropolitan Soccer League; Bavarian SC however, are five times US Open Cup qualifiers advancing to the second round of qualifications. With the presence of these two high caliber teams there’s no doubt that this very first match will be a competitive and exciting event.
Meanwhile, the Des Moines Menace Reserves (Iowa) are ready to receive the Missouri Arsenal at Valley Stadium Soccer Field in West Des Moines, IA. The Menace had an excellent 2005 season as they were claimed champions of the PDL Championship with a dramatic win over the El Paso Patriots.
This weekend also, the Indiana’s Bloomington Cutters will face the Princeton-56ers of Madison, Wisconsin (NPSL Midwest) at Karst Farm Park Soccer Field, Bloomington, Indiana.
In Region I news, four matches are scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2008.
