The Region I National Cups will get underway this weekend as the Aegean Hawks travel to New Jersey to face the SC Portuguese in an opening round of the Men’s Open showdown. The game is set for 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 27, at West Side Park, Newark, New Jersey.
The Aegean Hawks out of Metropolitan DC/Virginia set off to defend their 2007 Region I Men’s Open title as they visit the four time defending champions of the Champions League, SC Portuguese. Two teams with such winning pedigrees facing off in the opening round game will certainly set the tone for what should be a very competitive and intense Men’s Open tournament.
Next up for the winner will be a home game against the Baltimore Colts of Maryland on May 4 in the quarterfinals. The Region I finals will conclude on June 22 with the winner advancing to the USASA National Cups in Seattle. Both, the winner and the runner-up, will also qualify for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
