Online Registration
February 6, 2008

As the online registration system continues to grow, we would like to announce some of the new features that have been added in the last month or two.

As suggested at the online demonstration at the Region IV Meetings and Workshops, a test state has been created. Administrators from any state, national/regional league or affiliate will be able to go to this page and try out the system. There is already some sample data in the test state, but you may also practice uploading some of your own player data or data that you make up.

If you would like, you may also practice by uploading your old data onto your state’s page under previous years or seasons. This will not affect your current data. However, if you would feel more comfortable using the test state to practice navigating the system without the fear of influencing your actual data, that’s what it’s here for. If you would like log in access to the test state, please contact Steve at saddington@usasa.com.

Along with the test state, an audit report was created under the general data administration tab.

The audit report was designed to help administrators find duplicate players. An administrator can search by last name, date of birth, first name, address, city, state and zip code. After selecting the criteria to search, a list of names for potential duplicates will pop up. The administrator will then select the names and determine whether or not the different registrations are for one person or two separate people. For example, if one record shows a Chris Jones and another record shows a Christopher Jones with a different registration number, but everything else matches such as the birthday and address, it is likely that this is duplicate record. If this is the case, the administrator can select which record will be used and then merge all of other records with this one, so that there is only one registration number for this one person.

Also under the general data administration tab, the invoice section has been updated. Besides just seeing what the state owes the national office each month, the state will now be able to see how many players have registered for each league by month. This function will really help the state associations when they go out and invoice their leagues.

In addition to these changes, we are continuing to look into ways to incorporate other recommendations or ideas expressed by demo participants or administrators already using the system. One of the key additions to be added this year will be the individual player registration and the ability to pay this registration via credit card. For all state and league administrators, please provide us with feedback on how your leagues register players (player by player, team manager, etc.), so that we can provide this information to Demosphere and they can design this function to benefit as many people as possible. Again, you may send this information to Steve at saddington@usasa.com.
