Launched on April 6, 1996, Major League Soccer is the U.S. Soccer-sanctioned Division I outdoor professional soccer league in the United States. In MLS Cup 2007 at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C., Houston Dynamo defeated the New England Revolution for their second consecutive title. The San Jose Earthquakes who won titles in 2001 and 2003 will emerge again in 2008 after a two year hiatus. Besides the Houston Dynamo and San Jose Earthquakes, the other MLS Cup champions include the Los Angeles Galaxy (2002 & 2005), Kansas City Wizards (2000), D.C. United (1996, 1997, 1999 & 2004) and Chicago Fire (1998).
MLS is currently divided into two conferences (Eastern and Western).
Eastern Conference – Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, D.C. United, Kansas City Wizards, New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC
Western Conference – Chivas USA, Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes
