Meet the USASA: ASC New Stars, Boston Olympiakos, AAC Eagles & Clearwater F.C.

The Aria Soccer Club New Stars are the second participant from USASA’s Region III in this year’s U.S. Open Cup, but shouldn’t be seen as a neophyte to high-level soccer.

The ASC New Stars lead the Houston Football Association Premier Division with a record of 11-0-6 (39 points) and are on their way to their fourth consecutive HFA title. Continue...

Boston Olympiakos have been one of the best amateur clubs in the country for the past few years, but 2008 marks their debut in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Olympiakos was founded in 1990 by Nick Pseudoikonomou, when a friend asked if he wanted to acquire the franchise rights for Boston for a professional team. When he realized the costs of running a professional team were more then he could afford, Pseudoikonomou instead founded the club as an amateur side. Continue...



Adam Kapusta has been with AAC Eagles for just a little more than 2 years, but he’s well-versed on the Chicago club’s storied history in amateur soccer.

He can rattle off the superlatives: 1990 U.S. Open Cup champions. 2002 USASA National Open Cup champions. USASA National Amateur Cup champions in 1989, runner-up in 1994 and 2007. Clearwater International F.C. Galactics is one of two teams that will represent Region III in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2008, and though there are a debutante to the party, the level of success they have experienced this past year should not allow anyone to underestimate them.

The Galactics enter the competition having won the Florida Suncoast Soccer League (with a record of 15-0-1 and a goal margin of +96), 1st Division Florida State Soccer Association, and Florida National titles, and tacked on the USASA Region III championship after qualifying for the Open Cup.
