The
USASA’s George F. Donnelly Cup came to a close on Monday, January 21, as the State Select Teams battled for the national championship title in a 3-game series, at the
Home
Depot
Center, in
Carson, CA.
Utah women’s Select Team won 2:1 against
Massachusetts, making them the official champions of the 2008 Donnelly Cup in the women’s division.
Katie Larkin was named the Women’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
Illinois blanked
North Texas 6:0 in the final game to claim the George F. Donnelly Cup in the men’s division for a second year in a row.
The Men’s MVP was Jovan Bubonja.
Minnesota Select Team was the Finalist in the women’s division after defeating
Florida 2:1. The Men’s Finalist was
Eastern New York, which cruised to a 2-1 Illinois Select Team celebrates their victory

Utah in the final game.
"The tournament was well received by all teams, and all had a good time. There were 12 excellent games well officiated" said USASA Elite Player Program Commissioner, Joe Landry.
The national championship George F. Donnelly Cup, hosted by
USASA, is a high quality tournament where players get to perform against other elite teams from throughout the country. Here, players are scouted through the tournament by the
USASA National Coaching Staff for recommendation to participate in the USASA National
