April 3, 2008

If you play soccer and like the Windy City, then this tournament is for you!

The Illinois State Soccer Association has partnered with the 2008 Chicago Street Soccer Cup bringing a unique event to the USASA membership. The tournament will be held at Soldier Field on Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL on July 4-6, 2008.

“The Illinois State Soccer Association is excited to see such an innovative and fun soccer event take place in Chicago” said ISSA President George Chazaro, “it is a great opportunity for our teams to try something different to the traditional 11v11 outdoor matches most people associate with the game.”

Join the Independence Day Weekend event as they kick off a new tradition in Chicago, one of the top growing soccer communities in the Nation.

“Chicago is fast becoming a leader in hip soccer based events. Adding the Street Soccer Cup to the beginning of the July calendar with our annual Beach Soccer Invitational at the end of the same month, we are looking forward to welcoming to Chicago teams from the Midwest Region, as well as hopefully entries from Regions I, III and IV” added Chazaro.

The Street Soccer Cup is available to both Men’s and Women’s in the Open division. The event is also featuring 20 Live Bands/DJs, up to 10 street food vendors, and cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

About Chicago Street Soccer Cup

The 2008 Chicago Street Soccer Cup is organized to help promote soccer in Chicago and the Midwest. It is promoted but with certain things in mind. As most aspiring players grew up playing in the streets, the Chicago Street Cup gives the new generation an outlook on the older generations’ and how the game was such an important part of life.
